Community inside and outside of the classroom is an integral part of GCD life. Along with developing relationships with faculty and students in the classroom, students have opportunities to enjoy SGA events throughout the year, do ministry projects together, or even engage each other in our Theological Journal.
Student Government Association
The Student Government Association is a great way for the student body to connect with the faculty and administration of the college, and one of the best ways for your voice to be heard. The SGA has elections each academic year. Students who are interested in filling an SGA position, should contact the Dean of Students.
The SGA is the voice of the student body. They are responsible for listening to the ideas and concerns of fellow students and presenting them to the college administration. Be on the lookout for special SGA events. Throughout the year they put on entertaining events so that students can connect with each other.
Another great way to connect with fellow students is by doing ministry projects together. Divinity students are involved in regular ministry through the Christian Service Program (Leadership in Action). Many of our students are involved in campus ministry on our local middle, high school, and college campuses; some might choose to serve at local homeless shelters or Operation Blessing. Whatever you decide to do, there is an abundance of ministry opportunities here at GCD and in the surrounding Fayetteville area.
Writing for GCD’s Theological Journal is a great way to enrich your studies and aid in the academic and spiritual growth of your peers. This opportunity allows students to submit articles to be published in our online journal. Article topics range from practical theology (for example, counseling), to historical, biblical, or exegetical theology. You may choose to write on an original topic or you may write a response to any articles that are currently published. Submit your topic ideas for approval via email to: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Students, faculty, and staff participate in a weekly chapel service. Chapel is an important aspect of GCD life. It affords students the opportunity to come together, listen to short devotional messages, and pray for each other.
Chapel services occur each Monday (except holidays), 9:00am – 10:00am,on the second floor of the Education Building. Some of our previous chapel messages are available online.
